D606
Southminster is the proud home of Steinway D606, a splendid nine-foot grand piano, manufactured in 2012 and first brought to the region by the Ottawa Steinway Gallery.
Following a 5-year stint serving elite performers in various professional Ottawa venues as a first-choice rental instrument, in 2020 the piano was sold to Southminster where it now permanently resides.
Southminster’s purchase was made possible through nearly $150,000 in donations from music and piano lovers across the region who support the church’s musical programming and wanted to keep D606 locally accessible.
The piano is played regularly by artists for concerts and recordings, and maintained by the church with weekly maintenance and tuning.
D606 is a genuine manifestation of bounty and blessings, one which Southminster is honoured to shelter and showcase as humble host.
