Hope and Elegy
In “Hope and Elegy”, the Oxbow Piano Trio presents four works that show us how aspiration can flourish within loss. Over two centuries and continents, Franz Joseph Haydn, Ernest Moeran, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Astor Piazzolla wrote music that was deeply immersed in their time and place, and each piece in today's concert shows the transformation of dark into light. Dance, folk, and tango colour a diverse selection of piano trios that surprises and delights the spirit and gives solace to the heart. As winter approaches, we are reminded that the hope of spring and rebirth are around the corner.
